But late at night, the self-proclaimed anarchists gathered for a more militant march; police responded with a more visible and armed presence.

Faces garbed in black bandannas, protesters hurled insults at police in response to the shootings early Thursday morning of Bryson Tyler Chaplin, 21, and Andre Damon Thompson, 24, both of Olympia.
